Barton Fink: Atmospheric Sounds of the Creative Mind
According to Burwell (Barnes 2004) they had gone through the film scene by scene and divided up the frequency spectrum: a typical exchange would involve Lievsay saying he was going to use a high frequency sound for a particular item and Burwell offering music with a low frequency in response, or vice versa. [...]his momentary hesitation may be attributed to a subconscious fear that the sound-image of the advancing sea spray and sea foam means that he will be abandoned to his fate.3 The audible wash of the wave dissolves ominously into the low rumble of the deserted lobby. [...]every time Barton opens and closes his door a sudden rush of wind would enter the room as if the seal had been broken.7 Ultimately, this would suggest that the hotel room was a symbol for how Barton’s blind idealism isolated him from the real world. [...]this mode of production helps not only demonstrate the greater potential of the soundtrack, but it also affirms the benefits of closer collaboration among those responsible for its construction.

A Serious Man and The Red Book
The film A Serious Man depicts the tribulations of a middle-age Jewish man living a \"collective\" life in 1967 Midwestern America during the countercultural revolution occurring at that time. The author uses examples from C. G. Jung's inner turmoil as depicted in The Red Book to amplify the inner-world workings of the film's main character, especially the interplay of the absurd and the profound. The author also illustrates the potential for the same interplay in the audience who watches the film. The protagonist takes hard won steps toward emotional growth as he increasingly faces the human condition.
Last-bout win lifts Hammond, 30-27 ; Bears stop River Hill on Cohen's late takedown to improve record to 13-0; Wrestling; High Schools
In a charged atmosphere before a capacity crowd at Hammond, 119- pound Ethan Cohen delivered a soul-satisfying victory for the No. 4- ranked Bears wrestling team last night. [David Heckman] rallied in the third period with a two-point reversal and two near-fall points. Cohen scored a one-point escape, tying the bout at 4-4 with 37 seconds left. \"Ethan picks the team up on his shoulders every day in practice,\" said Pedro Barbossa, who has coached Hammond for five years and got his first win over River Hill. \"I had confidence he could finish it out.\"
River Hill's 5th straight title a record ; Six individual crowns pace Hawks to feat; Atholton finishes a distant second; Howard County wrestling; HIGH SCHOOLS
Ethan Cohen of Hammond, county runner-up and fourth in the state a year ago and ranked No. 1 at 103 pounds this year by The Sun, defeated River Hill's Taylor Green, 5-1, in the title bout. Cohen countered Green's shots, escaped from the bottom and took Green down. It was Cohen's third win over Green this season and improved his record to 23-1. David Brindza of Glenelg beat Hammond's Sean Vorsteg at 119 pounds, 4-3. Brindza, a senior, is 27-4, and he said the key to defending his title was getting the first takedown. He is 4-0 lifetime against Vorsteg. Sophomore Matt Bichner of Glenelg joined teammate Brindza as a county champ by scoring a major decision over Jeff Nuss of Hammond, 12-0. Bichner finished third in the county last season. He is 21-6.
\Inside Llewyn Davis\ brilliant, captures soul of 60s folk scene
Llewyn, played by Oscar Isaac (\"Drive\"), is likeable and talented but like many who've chased the dream to be the first Bob Dylan, he finds the reality of it all to be rough. The homeless Llewyn surfs from coach to coach in Greenwich Village playing small shows here and there but nothing that would give him his big break. Justin Timberlake (\"Runner, Runner\") has a role in the film too as Jim. He writes jingles more than songs and is part of the film for more of his comedic presence than anything. But, the interesting part is Jim doesn't try to be funny, he just is. Timberlake can't touch [Isaac]'s skill level in this film, though -Isaac is that good. [SPOILER] She plays Jim's (Timberlake) girlfriend who sleeps with Llewyn (Isaac). Unfortunately, during their night of fun Llewyn gets her pregnant. Whoops.
