Cercetări Arheologice Preventive La Șura Mare – Str. Atelierului F.N. Campania 2023 – Suprafața 10
The preventive excavation at Șura Mare (Atelierului Street), in the Hamba Valley terrace near DN14 (Sibiu–Mediaș), aimed to assess the archaeological stratigraphy affected by planned residential development and an access road. The investigated area (c. 1,100 m²; ca. 200 m long) was divided into 26 squares (7×7 m and 6×6 m), excavated by mechanical stripping of overburden followed by manual investigation of features. Despite difficult weather conditions, the work documented a relatively simple stratigraphy across most of the surface: topsoil, a sterile dark humus layer, a Roman occupation horizon frequently mixing with earlier material, and an underlying prehistoric cultural layer, both reaching down to yellow sandy clay subsoil. The excavation confirmed a multi-period occupation of the zone and refined the local archaeological map by correlating the new surface (S10) with earlier discoveries in the Atelierului neighborhood. Results indicate a prehistoric component dominated by pottery from the Late Bronze Age and Early Iron Age (including Noua and Basarabi/Hallstatt-related material), overlain and locally disturbed by Roman-period activity dated broadly to the 2nd–3rd centuries AD. The Roman horizon often reworked prehistoric deposits, producing mixed assemblages. Nine complexes were recorded: a Roman dwelling (CX1), a substantial prehistoric ash deposit/feature interpreted as an ash-pit or ash-rich complex (CX2) with associated vessels, charcoal, burnt clay and small finds (including a hairpin and a fibula), several clay-extraction pits (CX3–CX8), and a sinuous modern disturbance interpreted as a utility trench (CX9). Overall, the evidence supports sustained and spatially variable use of the terrace, with significant anthropogenic disturbance during the Roman phase and better-preserved prehistoric deposits concentrated around CX2.
Odczuwanie stylu\. Krajobrazowe Kulturfilmy Alfreda Ehrhardta z okresu Trzeciej Rzeszy
Abstract The article focuses on Alfred Ehrhardt's landscape Kulturfilme [culture films] from the Third Reich period (Urkräfte am Werk, 1939, Nordische Urwelt, 1941). The author sees them as unique among educational films (not only of their era), both in terms of their subject matter (the Wadden Sea, Iceland) and their poetics, which refer to the modernist codes of visual culture at the turn of the 1920s and 1930s. The latter include the ideas of shaping visual material developed at the Bauhaus (where Ehrhardt studied for one semester) and the principles derived from the New Photography movement. XX w.
MARÍA ZAMBRANO Y LA MIRADA DE CERVANTES
Maria Zambrano observes the allegory of Spain in Quijano, an ambiguity that manages to be expressed with the depth of literature that is not afraid to delve into the most intimate secrets of existence. Iberian modernity, already Baroque, is born accompanied by ambiguity: literary creation reaches the novel and thus finds another ontological possibility, the possibility of being narrated and spun between poetic metaphors with no fear of the depths and contradictions of the oscillating Baroque soul.
Predicting early discharge and readmission following pancreaticoduodenectomy S079
IntroductionImplementing enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) protocols for major abdominal surgery has been shown to decrease length of stay (LOS) and postoperative complications, including mortality and readmission. Little is known to guide which patients undergoing pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD) should be eligible for ERAS protocols. Methods and proceduresA retrospective chart review of all PD performed from 2010 to 2018 within an integrated healthcare system was conducted. A predictive score that ranges from 0 to 4 was developed, with one point assigned to each of the following: obesity (BMI > 30), operating time > 400 min, estimated blood loss (EBL) > 400 mL, low- or high-risk pancreatic remnant (based on the presence of soft gland or small duct). Chi-squared tests and ANOVA were used to assess the relationship between this score and LOS, discharge before postoperative day 7, readmission, mortality, delayed gastric emptying (DGE), and pancreatic leak/fistula.Results291 patients were identified. Mean length of stay was 8.5 days in those patients who scored 0 compared to 16.2 days for those who scored 4 (p = 0.001). 30% of patients who scored 0 were discharged before postoperative day 7 compared to 0% of those who scored 4 (p = 0.019). Readmission rates for patients who scored 0 and 4 were 12% and 33%, respectively (p = 0.017). Similarly, postoperative pancreatic fistula occurred in 2% versus 25% in these groups (p = 0.007).ConclusionA simple scoring system using BMI, operating time, EBL, and pancreatic remnant quality can help risk-stratify postoperative PD patients. Those with lower scores could potentially be managed via an ERAS protocol. Patients with higher scores required longer hospitalizations, and adjunctive therapy such as medication and surgical technique to decrease risk of delayed gastric emptying and pancreatic fistula could be considered.
The Female Baroque in Early Modern English Literary Culture
This is a contribution to the revival of early modern women's writings and cultural production in English that began in the 1980s. Its originality is twofold: it links women's writing in English with the wider context of Baroque culture, and it introduces the issue of gender into discussion of the Baroque.
Female entrepreneurship in the digital era
The literature on female entrepreneurship is blooming and largely points to the challenges that women face in establishing and running a business, with a particular focus on access to information, finance and networks. Surprisingly, little is known on the role played by digital technologies in driving changes in female entrepreneurship. While academic research is starting to analyze the role that digital technologies play in entrepreneurial ecosystems, the gender perspective remains largely unexplored. In this paper, we outline contributions that intend to enlarge and thicken our understanding of whether and how women entrepreneurs leverage new digital technologies in the creation and conduct of new ventures in order to overcome the hurdles they face. We conclude with a promising new line of research to our understanding of whether and to what extent new digital technologies provide an opportunity space in the creation and conduct of new ventures for women.
