Frostproof called important to Warner
\"We asked what we could do to make a difference in the industry,\" [Jackson] said. \"We need graduates who can work, lead and provide companies with something different.\" \"I think everybody knows that agriculture and Frostproof go hand in hand,\" [Michael Hutto] said. \"We're one of the largest citrus producing cities in the county, if not the best. I also think the agriculture programs at the high school and college level teaches our kids responsibility and hard work.\" \"If you've ever been to Frostproof High School, you know our classes aren't very big,\" Jackson said. \"To have 12 of them come through Warner's program in the last three years is a big number. It's the largest number we've had from any community.\"

City Commissioners unanimously approved a resolution to recommend an increase of county funding for libraries at Tuesday night's meeting. \"I've been pushing for more money for libraries for probably a couple of years,\" Mayor Gene Fultz said. \"The mayors' roundtables that I go to, I've been sitting there and they probably want to slap my face because I push so hard.\" -- Lance Ferguson can be reached at lance.ferguson@theledger.com or 863-401-6962. Lake Wales Commission wants more library funding
In the past fiscal year, which ended Sept. 30, 2014, $3.62 million was distributed it to the 17 public libraries in Polk, said Randy Hunt, assistant tax collector and chief financial officer for the Polk County Tax Collector's Office. \"At least half of the uses the library gets are county residents, not city,\" City Manager Ken Fields said. \"The amount we get for the county doesn't come close to what the library needs to cover the costs.\"

'Last Comic Standing' tour comes to Lakeland
A: That was scary. We don't get to see the judges before the show so the first time I actually go to see Norm Macdonald, Keenen Ivory Wayans and Roseanne Barr was when I walked out on stage. So the first thing I did was think, \"Oh my God I'm star struck, now I have to do my job.\" It was a weird clash of like, \"This is so exciting,\" and \"Compose yourself, you don't get to actually talk to them.\" I did like it though. If I ever ran into them on the street there's no way they'd want me to tell them a joke. A: That's kind of how I started, doing jokes like that, but as I've done comedy, I've done more stories or even singing and off the cuff stuff. I've evolved to doing more than just that but when it comes to TV, that stuff just plays so well and it's so easy to time your set that just telling a bunch of one-liners just makes for a good showcase. You can fit in more jokes and pack more of a punch than just telling one or two stories. In an actual show it will be less one-liners but still a bunch of them. A: It opens up a lot of doors, you get more attention, you also have this sweet credit so you can get paid more on the road. But you just have a whole lot more fans and friends. Like I've got so many more Twitter followers and Facebook followers. The other day I posted, \"Does anyone have any cat photos to share with me?\" I just wanted to see some cats and I got like 50 different cat pictures. I was like, \"This is awesome.\"
