Ask me what Hillsborough County football was like in the late 1980s, and [Mike Frankel]'s hairy face immediately comes to mind. As a lark, he told his readers he wouldn't shave until fledgling Bloomingdale High won its first football game. IN THOSE DAYS, the topic was not, \"Is high school football bad in this county?\" That was a given with Bradenton Manatee, Bradenton Southeast and Sarasota dominating the Hillsborough competition in their respective districts. Finally, after 16 consecutive losses, Bloomingdale stunned Jesuit 24-8. Frankel attended a pep rally at the school the next week, and the kids mockingly shaved off his beard.

King Furs Multifaceted success -- Furrier sees new opportunities through jewelry line
In 1992, shortly after the recession caused by the first Gulf War, they added jewelry to their lineup and changed the name to King Furs & Fine Jewelry. It became what [Buddy Ballin] calls a \"luxury store.\" The biggest challenge for the company is persuading the public to think about King not just for furs, but also for fine jewelry, Buddy Ballin said. SAGEMONT GOLFER TAKES FIRST IN AREA TRI-MEET
The Raptors defeated the Wellington Warriors I 6-5 in the opening game behind solid outfield play by Tony Verrusio, Michael Quintana and Mike Melendez and timely, clutch hitting by Chad Cabrera, Mike Frankel, Enier Perez and Verrusio. Cabrera had two hits and knocked in three runs, and Verrusio's earlier two-out, two-run single put the Raptors ahead for good. Both Frankel and Perez each drove in a run, and Melendez pitched three innings of outstanding relief to seal the first victory.
