Tulsa clinic, hospital to merge
Jan. 7--TULSA The massive Saint Francis Health System will have an even longer reach with Friday's announced merger into its system of the Tulsa-based Springer Clinic. Established in 1921, Springer Clinic physicians and Saint Francis have had an ongoing working relationship, said Jake Henry Jr., president and chief executive officer of Saint Francis Health System. Springer Clinic doctors admit their patients to Saint Francis, and the merger is a \"formalization\" of that relationship, Henry said in a news release.
St. Francis-Broken Arrow: Report: Hospital to move to Tulsa: The St. Francis Health System's newsletter says the Broken Arrow facility has been deemed unviable
\"Regrettably, St. Francis Hospital at Broken Arrow, in its present form and location, is not strategically positioned nor equipped to enable St. Francis Health System to maintain whatever market leadership position it currently may enjoy,\" writes Jake Henry Jr., president and CEO of the St. Francis Health System, in a Friday article in the St. Francis newsletter. He writes that St. Francis' management has recommended that the Broken Arrow facility be relocated to the health system's 91st Street and U.S. 169 campus in Tulsa, the former location of the St. Francis Heart Hospital. The facility became a St. Francis entity in 1997 and became known then as the St. Francis Hospital at Broken Arrow.

Three Beach police officers fired for cheating on leadership test
\"This unfortunate situation was discovered internally,\" Chief of Police Jake Jacocks Jr. said during an interview last month. Other law enforcement organizations also send officers to the course, including police departments in Norfolk, Chesapeake and Suffolk, Jacocks said. Jacocks would not comment on or confirm the firings, explaining that official police policy prohibits him from discussing personnel matters.
The Virginian-Pilot, Norfolk, Va., Kerry Dougherty column: Beach spins a response to O'Reilly's no-spin zone
At a Tuesday news conference, [Jake Jacocks Jr.] characterized O'[Reilly] as \"pompous\" and a \"pathetic individual,\" terms I've never heard the chief use even to describe some of the creeps his officers arrest. He sneered that O'Reilly was \"short on manners, large on mouth\" and added that the TV personality's \"inability to do anything constructive for anyone has relegated him to sitting on his duff and spewing insults and half-truths on a tabloid TV show.\" Although she stopped short of agreeing that the [Beach] had been a sanctuary for illegal immigrants, [Thelma Drake] said she was delighted that Jacocks had \"made significant changes\" to his policy. While it was in effect, she said, \"in ICE's eyes, Virginia Beach was a sanctuary city.\"
The Virginian-Pilot, Norfolk, Va., Kerry Dougherty column: City policy on immigration status needs another look
Two years ago, Police Chief Jake Jacocks Jr. decreed that Beach police officers couldn't ask suspects about their immigration status unless they were charged with a serious crime or involved in gang activity or terrorism. Jacocks is reconsidering his rule. The chief talked last week with community groups and Hispanics. On Monday, he met with representatives of the federal immigration agency. We know the feds do little about illegal immigration. We also know local police departments have neither the money nor the authority to detain and deport offenders.
Beach police chief weighs policy on immigration checks
Apr. 22--VIRGINIA BEACH -- Police Chief Jake Jacocks Jr. has been meeting with citizen groups this month to decide whether to change the policy that forbids Beach police officers from asking the immigration status of suspects arrested on misdemeanor charges. Next week, Jacocks will meet with representatives of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to discuss the ability of federal authorities to respond to local law enforcement requests for assistance. The federal immigration agency, ICE, does not respond to misdemeanor crimes involving illegal immigrants, Jacocks said.
