Lithuanian premier, minister outline benefits of heating sector reform
The Conservatives' prime minister and the energy minister, who started reforming the heating sector in the background of approaching Seimas [parliament] elections, say that reorganizing Lithuania's heating sector in accordance with the requirements of the EU third energy package would enhance the sector's transparency and would boost competition within it. According to [Energy Minister] Arvydas Sekmokas, the state must gain greater influence in managing heating grids, where currently monopolies are entrenched. The minister, however, for now does not dare predicting how long such a reform would take and how it would affect heating prices. \"The implementation of the principles set forth in the third package, that is the unbundling of generation and supply, would enable us to guarantee the supply of heat to consumers at economically justified prices in a much more transparent way and with competition in place,\" Sekmokas told the reporters after presenting the guidelines on the heating sector reform to his colleagues in the cabinet.

Venezuelan oil may be shipped to Belarus via Lithuania, says premier
[Correspondent, by phone] Good afternoon. The main piece of news about the first day of the working visit to Lithuania by the Belarusian prime minister must be a statement made by [Syarhey Sidorski]'s counterpart, [Andrius Kubilius].
