Convicted sex offender back in jail
The judge who set [Raymond Guimond]'s probation terms never spelled out specifically where Guimond could and could not go, but the meaning of his probation restriction is clear, [Todd Mathieson] said. Guimond is also on lifetime parole, but that designation is being challenged as unconstitutional by the Committee for Public Counsel Services in Worcester because Guimond has only been convicted once of sex crimes. Guimond's attorney, Kevin Larson of Holden, noted that no one witnessed Guimond interact with any children.
John T. Mathieson, 72
He leaves his wife, Marjorie A. (Leary) Mathieson; two sons, J. Todd Mathieson and Paul W. Mathieson, both of Worcester; a daughter, Ann C. MacGillivray of Sutton; two sisters, Margaret Haller and Violet Bissell, both of Holyoke; a granddaughter; nephews and nieces. Mr. and Mrs. Mathieson were married June 20, 1959.
Charges against Godena are dropped
[Louis R. Godena] and [Peter Fay] were arrested July 20 while collecting ballot petition signatures outside a Victory Supermarket at Southgate Plaza on Route 117. Arthur P. DiGeronimo, co-owner of the supermarket, complained to police that Godena and Fay were standing too near the entrance to the store and that they refused to move when asked.
Charges dropped for state trooper, former girlfriend
Police reports stated that Westminster officers reported to [Stephen Bigusiak]'s Westminster home on Sept. 10 after a call from [Dawn Marinelli], who said Bigusiak had pushed her and threatened to shoot her. A friend of Marinelli's then allegedly called Bigusiak multiple times the next day, which violated a restraining order between Marinelli and Bigusiak, according to police reports.
Teen sentenced in Rt. 9 deaths ; 13 years' probation in Spencer crash
EAST BROOKFIELD - Shoulders slouched, chin upon his chest, eyes staring at the floor, 18-year-old Seth W. Stockenberg stood silently in handcuffs and chains in front of Western Worcester District Court Judge Charles A. Abdella yesterday afternoon and waited. He told the judge that witnesses reported seeing Mr. Stockenberg weaving a 1998 Honda Civic through traffic as he drove west on Route 9 past the Big Y Shopping Plaza in Spencer. Moments later he lost control of the vehicle on the slick roads. The car spun across the center lane and into oncoming traffic, slamming rear end first into an oncoming oil delivery truck, Mr. [J. Todd Mathieson] said. Judge Abdella then sentenced Mr. Stockenberg to 13 years of supervised probation, during which he will not be allowed to drive a motor vehicle in Massachusetts, and 600 hours of community service.
Man pleads not guilty in assault case
Lawyer George Hammond, from the bar advocate's office, represented Mr. [Charles Lapen] at the arraignment. He said Mr. Lapen had attended the University of Massachusetts for three semesters and was majoring in chemistry when he had some medical problems that required him to go on Social Security disability. Mr. Hammond asked for $500 cash bail. Mr. [J. Todd Mathieson] asked for $25,000 cash bail. Judge [John C. Geenty] set bail for Mr. Lapen at $3,000 cash and ordered that he have no contact with the victim. Mr. Lapen was released on bail, and his next court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 7.

Company officials contacted police after a co- worker came across the images in Mr. McClure's file, police said. In his argument, Mr. [J. Todd Mathieson], an assistant district attorney, sought to impound a police report of Gardner Detective William Crockett, a statement Mr. McClure made to police Tuesday and a search warrant for Mr. McClure's house. According to Gardner and Fitchburg police, Mr. McClure had sex with a girl -- now 11 but as young as 9 when the acts first occurred - - in Gardner, where Mr. McClure lives with his family.

Jury finds city driver guilty ; Spencer woman died after asking respirator be turned off
Carol A. Davies Surprenant, 59, of 158 Paxton Road, [Spencer], was injured in July 2002 when the 1994 Ford Escort driven by her husband, Robert J. Surprenant, collided near Mechanic and Chestnut streets in Spencer with a 2001 Infiniti driven by Sandra Carlson, 45, of 76 Fairmont Ave., Worcester. Mr. [Robert A. Perrone] also said Ms. Carlson should not be charged with motor vehicle homicide because Mrs. Surprenant had opted to be taken off the respirator even though doctors at the Worcester hospital felt her injuries -- which included a contusion of her right lung and broken ribs -- were survivable. After the verdict was announced, Mr. [J. Todd Mathieson] said Ms. Carlson had never expressed any remorse to the Surprenant family.
Manhunt Underway For Federal Inmate
A 40-year-old woman was working alone the night that [Carter Sherrod Tillery] entered the business in the 3800 block of South Crater Road, according to testimony from Todd Flemming, a special agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Flemming told U.S. District Judge James Spencer that Tillery forced the victim to strip down to her underwear and kneel face-down on the floor in the back room of the shop. He then ripped a phone cord from the wall and used it to bind her wrists before rifling through the business in search of money and valuables, Flemming said.
