AI as a Helper: Leveraging Generative AI Tools Across Common Parts of the Creative Process
This study explores Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) applications in creativity. We identify the four most common parts of the creative process: (1) Problem Identification and Framing, (2) Generating ideas, (3) Evaluating ideas, and (4) Deploying and Implementing ideas. We map Generative AI systems into this common part of the creative process. By positioning GenAI as a supportive “AI as a helper”, we propose a structured framework that identifies specific GenAI tools and their capabilities within each common part of the creative process. Through the analysis and demonstration of use cases, this study demonstrates how Generative AI systems facilitate problem identification, generate novel ideas, evaluate ideas, and enhance implementation. We also propose the criteria for evaluating these GenAI systems for each part of the process. Moreover, this study provides insights for researchers and practitioners who are seeking to enhance GenAI’s creative capabilities and human creativity. This study concludes with a discussion of the implications of these illustrative use cases and suggests directions for future research to further advance the use of GenAI.

CREATIVE THINKING
Is there anything that the Marine Corps could do to stimulate a creative outlook in its officers? In the recent syllabi of the Marine Corps schools there is not a subcourse devoted to creative thinking. Nor is there any block of instruction that, strictly speaking, qualifies as creative thinking. The approach, at present, appears to be that of urging the students to think and to be creative without providing them with formal instruction in the techniques of stimulating creative responses.

Prison escapee's B-N store encounter ends freedom flight
[Shawn F. Osborn], 27, will return to Arizona any day - depending on when Arizona authorities pick him up. He has waived extradition and remained confined Thursday at the McLean County Jail. Osborn was arrested outside Cub Foods, 403 Veterans Parkway, Bloomington, at 7 p.m. June 6. An employee told police Osborn had placed two packs of cigarettes in his pocket before walking out. Michael Arra, public information officer for the Arizona Department of Corrections, said Osborn had just completed the fifth year of a 15-year sentence for fraudulent schemes. He also completed a concurrent 5-year sentence for robbery.
Paying others to assume the burden of thought
Other ideas entrepreneurs offer a \"great man\" theory, pointing to the enormous influence of Clayton M. Christensen, a Harvard Business School professor and an author of books including \"The Innovator's Dilemma\" and \"Innovation and the General Manager.\" Mr. Christensen coined the term \"disruptive innovation\" in 1992 to describe the kind of technological and marketing ideas that blindside established and seemingly well-managed businesses. Think of Netflix, which reinvented the way videos were rented and crushed Blockbuster. Or Sears, a titan of retailing for decades, which was poleaxed by discounters like Wal-Mart. \"My dad was a midlevel manager for I.B.M.,\" Mr. [Dev Patnaik] explained. \"For years, the good manager was one who had data at their fingertips. What's our sales in Peoria? 'It's actually 47 percent above last year.' People say, 'Oh, he's a good manager.\"' \"Companies spend all of their time in Box 1, and think they are doing strategy,\" he said. \"But strategy is really about Box 2 and 3 -- the challenge to create the future that will exist in 2020.\" He recommends to clients what he calls the 30-30 rule: 30 percent of the people who make strategic decisions should be 30 years old or younger. \"The executives who've been there a long time, they grew up in Box 1,\" he said. \"You need voices in the room that aren't vested in the past.\"
Franklin High Coach Appeals Kingco Sanctions
The conference summarily imposed the sanctions in a letter e- mailed by [Donna Tyo] to Franklin Principal Jennifer Wiley. The letter did not specifically describe the alleged infractions, nor did it allow [Jason Kerr] or Wiley to respond before the sanctions were to go into effect. The sanctions placed Kerr on probation for two years and suspended him for two games; forfeited all Franklin High basketball games from the 2002-2003 season -- which would include forfeiting the Kingco championship; and recommended to the WIAA that the Franklin basketball team be stripped of its 2003 state title.
