Last week Barcud Derwen's managing director Bryn Roberts told staff in an e-mail that he was confident of creating a new trading entity to take over a number of companies in the group, on the back of the promise of \"substantial\" funding from the Welsh Assembly Government. In another twist on Friday a number of Barcud freelancers sent a signed e-mail to WAG's Finance Minister Jane Hutt and Heritage Minister Alun Ffred Jones, alleging they had not received payments for work, The e-mail, signed by 14 freelancers said: \"We are extremely concerned that Bryn Roberts and his associates have possibly convinced yourselves that they deserve further investment. We understand he is on the verge of establishing a new company and that the Assembly Government has already promised him 'a substantial amount of money'. One, who didn't want to be named said: \"What message would it send out that in aftermath of Ian Hargreaves' report setting out a new strategy for the creative industries in Wales - with digital at its heart - that WAG's first move would be to bail out a loss-making company that represents an old model? Many independent television companies have now taken production functions in-house and the UK is littered with examples of facility companies that have folded.\"
