Cultural Context
2026
Introduction: Currently, there is still a limited scale of sportsmanship that is valid and appropriate to the Indonesian cultural context for junior high school students. Objective: This study aims to develop and test the validity and reliability of the Student Sportsmanship Scale in Physical Education (S3-PE). Methodology: The scale was developed using the ADDIE model, starting with needs analysis and theory-based item construction. Aiken’s V showed 19 of 20 items valid (>0.78); one item was removed. Content reliability was high (0.871), and inter-rater reliability was moderate (ICC = 0.529). The scale was piloted on 1.750 junior high students. Construct validity and reliability were tested using Covariance-Based Structural Equation Modeling (CB-SEM). Results: Validity and reliability tests using CB-SEM showed that all items were valid (loading >0.70), reliable (α and CR >0.70), and AVE >0.50. The model fit was good, and concurrent validity was proven (r = 0.693; p <0.001), although the Chi-square/df was slightly above the ideal limit. Discussion: The results showed that the scale had strong construct validity and reliability. All statistical indicators met the recommended criteria, including discriminant and concurrent validity, and the model fit was excellent. Although the Chi-square/df value was slightly high, the overall model was deemed suitable for use. Conclusions: These findings conclude that the S3-PE is a valid, reliable, and suitable measurement tool for student sportsmanship in the context of physical education at the junior high school level.

Football plays a fundamental role in the lives of the boys and girls who play it and it can become an invaluable educational instrument. However, for introduction to football to be truly educational, it needs to be carefully planned and guided; otherwise, it may encourage negative and undesirable behaviour from a moral and ethical point of view. That way, many authors claim that a careful and deliberate initiation to football is necessary for the promotion of sportspersonship to become a reality.
The goal of this research is to analyse the evolution of sportspersonship orientation in the social sports football schools of Fundación Real Madrid and in association football clubs. For this purpose, the Multidimensional Sportspersonship Orientations Scale is used. The research involves 1509 male and female youth football players aged between 8 and 16 years (M = 10.9±2.2), of whom 952 belong to the social sports football schools of the Fundación Real Madrid and 547 to association football clubs.
The most outstanding results show that the players of the social sports schools of Fundación Real Madrid obtain high values in sportspersonship orientation. Moreover, these values remain high in all categories, while they show a significant decrease in players from association football clubs.
The social sports model of Fundación Real Madrid can contribute to maintaining high levels of sportspersonship orientation throughout the player's training process.

Does perceived organizational support and employee development influence organizational citizenship behavior?
2020
Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to examine the relationship between perceived organizational support (POS), employee development and organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) while considering the moderating effect of person-organization (P-O) on this association. Design/methodology/approach: Using a stratified sampling technique, the data was collected from 331 employees working in different bank branches located in five metropolitan cities of Pakistan. To test the hypotheses, the structural equation modeling technique was applied using AMOS 21.0. Findings: The results of the study strongly supported the relationship between POS, employee development and organizational commitment. However, an insignificant relationship was found between POS, employee development and OCB. The results also reported a significant relationship between organizational commitment and OCB. Moreover, the relationship between organizational commitment and OCB was found to be moderated by P-O fit. Research limitations/implications: The findings of the study can be useful for banking organizations and policymakers responsible for employee and organizational productivity. The findings of the study can also assist the organizational leaders in working on long-term employee support programs to maximize their commitment to the organization. The study also provides the scope and space for potential scholars and researchers for carrying out further research. Originality/value: While there is extensive literature is available on POS, employee development and its impact on OCB. However, it appears that very little work has been done to examine the moderating role of the P-O fit in the relationship between organizational commitment and OCB. Therefore, this study can be considered as original and of great value in understanding its relationships between various constructs in the scenario of Pakistan.

Competition Anxiety in Combat Sports and the Importance of Mental Toughness
2023
Combat sports require participants to engage in potentially dangerous forms of contact-based competition. Pressure to succeed, coupled with the risk of severe injury can induce significant levels of anxiety, which if uncontrolled, can negatively impact performance and possibly promote unsporting conduct. The present study examined competitive anxiety levels of combat sports athletes and determined whether self-reported scores were associated with mental toughness and Sportspersonship attitudes. A cross-sectional survey design was used whereby participants (N = 194) completed a battery of questionnaires measuring competitive combat sport experiences, demographic details, Sportspersonship traits (compliance towards rules, respect for opponents, and game perspective), and competition anxiety (somatic, cognitive, and self-confidence; reported retrospectively). Results suggest that mentally tough athletes experience lower levels of cognitive and somatic anxiety, and higher self-confidence, prior to competitions. Findings also found that athletes endorsing more altruistic and respectful attitudes in sport (Sportspersonship) reported higher levels of competition anxiety. The findings demonstrate that mental toughness is allied to positive attributes and could potentially be operationalized to improve both the retention and performance of combat sports athletes. Thus, the authors advocate the use of mental toughness coaching interventions within combat sports.
