The Missing Stratum
Starting with the creation of the early technical schools before the First Wold War and finishing with John Patten’s policies as Secretary of State for Education in 1993, Sanderson examines the development of the technical school sector and the factors which weakened it and led to its demise. The book argues that the neglect of technical schools has resulted in poor levels of skill formation and industrial performance in Britain, especially since the Second World War.
Sea urchin-like Ni.sub.3.sub.2 as the substrate of molecular imprinted polymer: the voltammetric mechanism for sensitive detection of dopamine
An electrochemical sensor composed of conductive metal-organic framework [Ni.sub.3(HITP).sub.2] and molecular imprinted polymers (MIP) is fabricated to detect dopamine. Ni.sub.3(HITP).sub.2 promotes electrons transfer due to the structure of in-plane charge delocalization and layered expansion conjugation. The combination of MIP with Ni.sub.3(HITP).sub.2 improves the selectivity and conductivity, exhibiting a wide detection range (0.06 ~ 200 µM) and a low detection limit (0.109 µM). The kinetic mechanism on the electrode surface is an adsorption controlled process, with the equal number of electrons and protons participating in oxidation in the electrocatalytic process of catechol converting to o-quinone. Educational data mining applied to identify the profile of public technical school graduates to support educational management/Mineracao de dados educacionais aplicada na identificacao do perfil dos egressos de escola tecnica publica para apoiar a gestao educacional/Mineria de datos educativos aplicada en la identificacion del perfil de egresados de escuelas tecnicas publicas para apoyar la gestion educativa
The Public Technical Schools of the State of Sao Paulo (ETECs) have sought improvements aimed at the training of their students, through the analysis of data from their graduates who passed entrance exams, to support educational management in the development of educational strategies. The performance of these graduates can be analyzed using Educational Data Mining (MDE). The objective of this work was to identify and analyze the profile of public technical school graduates who passed entrance exams, using Educational Data Mining, to implement changes that support educational management in the development of educational strategies. ETEC Paulistano, the object of study in this work, has a student body made up of 95% of students from the Vila Brasilandia region, with 70% of them coming from the public school. A questionnaire was administered to graduates from classes from 2016 to 2018. Five steps was adapted from the phases of the Knowledge Discovery in Databases (KDD) process were applied: Selection and Collection of Data; Data Pre-Processing; Educational Data Mining; Interpretation and Analysis of Discovered Knowledge and Implementation of Changes. The identification of the graduate's profile made it possible to implement changes based on the analysis of the questionnaire results, resulting in the creation of two new courses and the reduction of the daily workload of the courses from 8 to 6 hours, completed with the completion of an internship. It was then concluded that the MDE made it possible to implement changes, which supported educational management in the development of educational strategies. Keywords: Educational Data Mining. Mechanoreciprocity in cell migration
Cell migration is an adaptive process that depends on and responds to physical and molecular triggers. Moving cells sense and respond to tissue mechanics and induce transient or permanent tissue modifications, including extracellular matrix stiffening, compression and deformation, protein unfolding, proteolytic remodelling and jamming transitions. Here we discuss how the bi-directional relationship of cell–tissue interactions (mechanoreciprocity) allows cells to change position and contributes to single-cell and collective movement, structural and molecular tissue organization, and cell fate decisions. Friedl and co-authors discuss how migrating cells sense and respond to tissue mechanics, and how cells in turn modify their surroundings.
