The intellectual structure of the strategic management field: an author co-citation analysis
This paper complements a recent study by Ramos-Rodriguez and Ruiz-Navarro (2004) that investigated the intellectual structure of the strategic management field through co-citation analysis. By using authors as the units of analysis and incorporating all the citations that are included in the Science Citation Index and the Social Science Citation Index, we trace the evolution of the intellectual structure of the strategic management field during the period 1980-2000. Using a variety of data analytic techniques such as multidimensional scaling, factor analysis, and Pathfinder analysis, we (1) delineate the subfields that constitute the intellectual structure of strategic management; (2) determine the relationships between the subfields; (3) identify authors who play a pivotal role in bridging two or more conceptual domains of research; and (4) graphically map the intellectual structure in two-dimensional space in order to visualize spatial distances between intellectual themes. The analysis provides insights about the influence of individual authors as well as changes in their influence over time.
Bibliometric analysis of bibliometric studies in the field of tourism and hospitality
PurposeThis study aims to contribute to the relevant body of knowledge by examining the bibliometric studies related to tourism and hospitality indexed in the Web of Science (WoS) database from a bibliometric perspective (evaluative and relational techniques).Design/methodology/approachThe WoS database was used to obtain studies to be reviewed. A total of 136 studies were analyzed and visualized in terms of evaluative and relational techniques, and a subject categorization was made.Findings“Tourism management” and “tourism and hospitality” are the two fields of research where bibliometric studies are carried out more frequently. Evaluative techniques were used in most studies while relational techniques, such as co-word, co-author, co-citation analysis and bibliographic coupling, were performed less. Relational techniques indicate that the words “bibliometric analysis” and “tourism” are frequently used together in the studies examined; the most common authorship cooperation is between China and USA.Research limitations/implicationsThis study provides an overview of bibliometric studies in tourism and hospitality literature. It expands the previous literature and shows study topics that are more focused by examining the abstracts and contents of articles published in journals in different WoS categories.Practical implicationsFindings related to evaluative and relational techniques can serve as useful information for researchers, who are new to the field.Originality/valueThis study contributes to the current knowledge accumulation by its lack of year, country, region and language limits.

The purpose of this study is to examine educational research from Turkey published in international education journals with bibliometric analysis method. For this purpose, the documents published in journals covered by the Web of Science’s (WoS) SSCI, SCI-Expanded and AHCI indexes were reached. A total of 6312 articles were included in the analysis after the necessary exclusion criteria were applied for elimination. Descriptive analysis and bibliometric analysis methods were used to analyze the data. According to the analysis that are conducted based on the WoS citations of the reviewed articles, it is seen that the authors who work in the fields of educational technology and science education stand out in terms of productivity and impact. In terms of the institutions where the authors work, Hacettepe University ranked first regarding the number of articles and Middle East Technical University ranked first regarding the number of citations. According to the co-author analysis of institutions, it is seen that state universities that are based in Ankara form strong co-authorship ties with each other and with other Anatolian universities. Four major clusters emerged in the co-citation (author) analysis. The cluster located in the center of the map mostly consists of researchers working on research methods. The other dense cluster is seen to be composed of researchers focusing on educational psychology, measurement and evaluation, and statistics. It is seen that the third big cluster consists of researchers working on topics of self-regulation, motivation, self-efficacy, goal and achievement orientation and the fourth cluster consists of researchers working in the field of science education. The concepts that become apparent in the clusters emerged from the co-word analysis are student, education, attitude, technology, achievement, performance, science education, efficacy, teacher and knowledge. It is recommended that more detailed reviews of specific fields or subjects identified in this study should be carried out by field experts.

Science Mapping of Tunnel Fires: A Scientometric Analysis-Based Study
The topic of tunnel fire attracted considerable attention in past two decades. The popularity of this topic is mainly attributed to the widespread construction of long-span tunnels and their incident fire safety issues, as well as the frequent occurrence of catastrophic tunnel fires. To date, a number of research papers have been published focusing on specific aspects of tunnel fires such as fire dynamics, smoke extraction, fire suppression system, personnel evacuation, fire risk evaluation, and some others with broader areas of focus. In this work, a thorough bibliometric and network analysis is conducted on the basis of peer-reviewed publications on tunnel fires, seeking to provide insights in this topic. A total of 519 research articles are obtained from the Web of Science Core Collection database. It is identified that the most prolific journal is Tunnelling and Underground Space Technology, with 121 papers, accounting for 23.3% of the total. England is the most influential region with the highest citations per document, while China is the most prolific country with nearly a half of the total, where the University of Science and Technology of China is the primary contributor. The visualization and cluster analysis of research topics indicate that the currently bursting topics mainly concentrate on the smoke thermodynamics and smoke extraction based on model-scale tests. The reference analysis and co-citation network also confirm the findings.
A comparative study of first and all-author bibliographic coupling analysis based on Scientometrics
This paper takes 2,876 papers published in Scientometrics as the sample, and the time span of these papers is nearly ten years. We have studied the intellectual structure and development trend of Scientometrics in two periods within five years, and made an empirical exploration and comparison of two methods of author bibliographic coupling methods—first author bibliographic coupling (FABCA) and all authors bibliographic coupling (AABCA). The results show that the intellectual structure of Scientometrics in the two periods are relatively stable, but the intellectual structure of the latter period is clearer, and the correlation and integration of the research topics is stronger than that of the previous period. There is a strong correlation between AABCA and FABCA, but each has its own characteristics, and there are subtle differences between them. The similarity between them can be found by authors rank correlation analysis, the cosine similarity analysis, and discipline research topic detection. However, the factor models fitting analysis, research topics detection and evolution show that there are differences between them. AABCA is sensitive to the discovery of research hotspots, and can detect more research topics than FABCA. While FABCA has advantages over AABCA in reflecting the frontier and innovation of the discipline. It can provide more information. Therefore, FABCA and AABCA have their own characteristics and cannot be replaced. The combination of the two methods is a powerful and effective research method to explore the intellectual structure and evolution trend of the discipline.
Scientometric analysis: identification of research trends for ozone as an air pollutant for 2011–2019
Ground level ozone is a major air pollutant with known toxic effects on humans. The research field is well established with many scientists from developed and developing countries contributing original research articles. Strict regulations for ozone air pollution are being implemented worldwide based on supporting scientific literature. In this scientometric analysis, we have analyzed the research trends in the field of ozone air pollution during 2011–2019. The collected SCOPUS data was analyzed using common scientometric analysis methods for known indicators to identify top ten rankings and scientific collaborations important for the field. Our result demonstrates that the USA is leading the field as USEPA and American regulatory authorities have funded most of the research. Two scientists, Russell A.G. and Schwartz J., working in American institutions, are leading with the most publications. Our assessment of ozone and PM together shows a significant impact on research direction in the last years to accommodate the study of both air pollutants together. In addition, we have analyzed the possible disease trends in the field for the last 3 years and identified that cardiovascular system, nervous system, and diabetes are upcoming disease areas that would be studied in the coming future.
