تسعى هذه الدراسة إلى إيضاح القرارات التي اتخذها الرئيس (السابق) نيكولا ساركوزي في فرنسا ورئيس الوزراء ديفيد كاميرون في بريطانيا للتدخل في الأزمة الليبية ولا يمكن لأي من نظريات العلاقات الدولية الثلاث البنائية والواقعية الدفاعية والليبرالية أن تفسر بمفردها قرارات التدخل كالقرارات المتخذة في الحالة الليبية ويفترض النموذج التحليلي الجديد في الدراسة أن كلا من هذه النظريات تركز على عوامل وآليات تفسر جانبا من عملية صنع القرار وأن هذه العوامل تتفاعل مع سلوك الدولة بطرق معقدة.
