يحتوي هذا الكتيب بالإضافة إلى دراسة مطولة شملت الفلسفة الإسلامية واليونانية القديمة، على ستة عشر مناظرة ناظر بها \"فخر الدين الرازي\" علماء وفقهاء ذكر اسم كل واحد منهم فيء المناظرة الخاصة به دون أن يقدم أية تفصيلات عن شخصياتهم ومكانتهم العلمية ومؤلفاتهم والمدارس الفكرية والعقائدية التي ينتمون إليها، وإنما اعتنى بتقديم المناظرات التي لم يخرج مضمونها عن نطاق علم الكلام والفقه والمنطق، وبالتالي جاءت خالية من آية فلسفة أو دائرة للعقل، ولكن في المناظرة العاشرة ظهرت نفحات فلسفية مما جعلها جديدة بالدرس والعناية.
