هذا الكتاب تحقيق لشرح واحدة من أعظم قصائد شيخ البيان العماني أبي نذير محمد ابن شيخان السالمي والمسماة بـ \"غرة الزمان في مديح سلطان عمان\" وللقصيدة أهمية لغوية وأدبية بالإضافة إلى قيمتها التاريخية، حيث رصدت بين ثناياها الأوضاع الاقتصادية والسياسية والحربية في تلك الحقبة الزمنية التي عاش فيها الشاعر وقد تضمنت ألفاظها السامية على كثير من التورية وكانت هذه القصيدة سببا في تبوأ الشاعر مكانة مرموقة في بلاط سلطان عمان فقد شاءت الحياة أن تفسح لابن شيخان الطريق وأن تهيئ له السبيل إلى باب السلطان ليتألق نجمه ويلمع اسمه، بل حمل نفسه على أن يبزهم جميعا وأن يجعلهم يشتدون وراء خطوه إذ يمشي متمهلا، فقدم له خلاصة فنه في قصيدته المسماة (غرة الزمان في مديح سلطان عمان)
