يصف هذا الكتاب عددا من الحميات في الحالات المرضية والأوضاع الصحية المختلفة، وقد تم تقسيمه إلى خمسة فصول رئيسية: الفصل الأول (وهو مكون من أربعة أجزاء) احتوى على أسس تخطيط الوجبات وإعداد الحميات. والفصل الثاني عني بالتغذية الصحية في مراحل الحياة المختلفة واحتوى على ستة أجزاء. وجاء الفصل الثالث (ثمانية أجزاء) واصفا الحميات الاعتيادية المقدمة روتينيا في المستشفى الحديث. أما الفصل الرابع فقد احتوى على 46 حمية من الحميات العلاجية في أحد عشر نوعا من الأمراض في أجهزة الجسم المختلفة. واختتم الكتاب بالفصل الخامس المتعلق بالتغذية المعوية والوريدية والتي لا يستغنى عنها في أي مستشفى حديث في بعض الحالات المرضية.
