هذا الكتاب الكتاب لا یحدثنا عن مناھج ولكنه یھتم ببیان الأساس الذى یجعل من العلوم الإنسانیة علوما ولقد انطلق الفلاسفة والمتخصصون فى الإبستمولجیا أو فلسفة العلوم من البدایة بإبراز تمیز الظواھر الإنسانیة عن ظواھر الطبیعة وھو ما یعنى أن موضوع الدراسة مختلف فى الحالتین ولكن أین یكمن الاختلاف بالظبط ؟ ذھب بعض الفلاسفة إلى أن الظواھر الإنسانیة تنتمى إلى عالم الروح أو النفس فى مقابل عالم الطبیعة الذي تنتمي ظواھره إلى العالم المادي ومن ھنا كان علم النفس ھو الأساس الذي تقوم علية كافة العلوم الإنسانیة وذھب بعض آخر إلى أن العالم الإنساني ھو عالم من الرموز التي یتم التعبیر عنھا لغویا.
