اكتسبت رباعيات الشاعر الفارسي الشهير عمر الخيام شهرة واسعة في أوروبا بعد ترجمتها للإنجليزية التي قام بها الشاعر الانجليزي فيتز جيرالد كما اكتسبت شهرة في العالم العربي بعد ترجمة أحمد رامي للعربية وغناء كوكب الشرق أم كلثوم لبعض تلك الرباعيات وقد قام الأديب الباحث محمد رضوان باستعراض أشهر ترجمات تلك الرباعيات للعربية وتأثيرها في الشعراء العرب المعاصرين كما قدم لنا خلفية عن عصر الخيام واستعرض لنا سيرته وثقافته وشعره يقدم هذا الكتاب الجديد صورة للخيام وفلسفته في الحب والحياة والموت وملامحه الرجعية والأرجوانية والفكرية والتي جسدها في رباعياته الباقية الخالدة على مر الحقب والعصور.
