هذا الكتاب من خلال صفحاته يقدم الشيخ محمد الخضري للمشتغلين بالتاريخ محاضراته الثانية في تاريخ الأمم الإسلامية وهي تنتظم تاريخ الدولة العباسية في المشرق والتاريخ العباسي جزء عظيم من تاريخ المسلمين يبتدئ من سنة (132 إلى سنة 656) وقد بقي بيتهم بعد ذلك له اسم الخلافة بمصر إلى سنة 923 والشيخ الخضري في محاضراته هذه لم يسر معهم من العراق إلى مصر لكنه أبقى تصاريف أحوالهم هناك إلى تاريخ مصر لما بين التاريخيين والارتباط باذلا جهده في تصوير حالهم السياسي من مبتدأ خلافتهم على أيدي دعاتهم بخراسان والعراق إلى منتهاها على يد هولاكو خان المغولي حفيد جنكيزخان مبينا تلك الحال في أدوار الدولة المختلفة من قوة وضعف.
