يتناول الكتاب أحد إبداعات أديب العربية وأمير البيان الأستاذ مصطفى صادق الرافعي التي غابت عن القاريء الكريم لما يزيد عن قرن من الزمان فقد كتبها رحمه الله في نهاية القرن التاسع عشر الميلادي أي في شبابه الأول ونشر آخر طبعاتها منتصف العقد الأول من القرن العشرين وظلت هذه المسرحية أو الرواية كما كانت تسمى في ذلك الوقت في طي النسيان حتى وصلت إليها يد الأديب وليد كساب الذي أحسن صنعا إذ أعاد تقديم هذا العمل الإبداعي الرفيع إلى جمهور الأدب العربي ليفسح المجال أمام الدراسات العلمية الجادة التي لم تقف على هذا الجانب المطمور من جهود الرافعي المسرحية.
