الكتاب يدور حول شاعرة إماراتية عاشت هي وسيرتها في صدور رواة التراث الشعبي وحفظته، الذين يروون لها قصيدة واحدة من الشعر النبطي بروايات مختلفة في كثير أو قليل، ويوصلون نسبها بشاعر الإمارات الماجدي بن ظاهر الذي يغلب أن يكون عاش قبل ثلاثمائة سنة ويزيد، وله قصائد كثيرة معروفة. أما ابنته الشاعرة، فقد أوردت سيرتها صراعا غريبا بينها وبين والدها الشاعر بن ظاهر، الذي حاول منعها من قول الشعر بأساليب اختلفت فيها الروايات وبلغت في بعضها حدا أنه قطع لسانها. وحول هذه الشاعرة وسيرتها وما دار بينها وبين والدها، وحول قصيدتها، دارت الأبحاث الثلاثة التي تضمنها هذا الكتاب، بحيث ذهب كل بحث منها إلى وجهة خاصة به.
