يتناول الكتاب أبرز اتجاهات الأدب الروسي في حقبة من الزمان أحتشدت بالإحداث الثقافية وسارت فيها تيارات فكرية وأدبية شكلت بمجملها ملامح الأدب الروسي للسنوات الممتدة من 1920-1990 وظهرت روايات عدها النقاد من روائع الأدب الروسي لعدد كبير من الروائيين سواء أولئك الذين عاشوا في ظل النظام الجديد الذي انبثق مع ثورة 1917 والذين غادروا بلادهم وعاشوا في المنفى يكتبون عن وطنهم وأبناء شعبهم فأصبحت كتاباتهم من المصادر الحقيقية التي لاغنى عنها لمعرفة مختلف الجوانب الاجتماعية والسياسية والفكرية والاقتصادية التي عاشت في غمارها بلادهم طوال تلك السنوات.
