هذه رواية مربكة بعض الشيء ومعظم شخصياتها بجانب شرير غير خفي أحسوا به أم لم يحسوا وكل منهم يمارس عدوانيته وعنفه بصور مختلفة على من هو أضعف منه أو في مستواه الأب على ابنه والزوج \"المثقف\" على زوجته المريضة والطبيب والممرضات على المرضى والصديق على صديقه كلهم يعاني من الخوف والقلق بشكل أو بآخر وكلهم يتوقع السوء من الآخر فرغبة الإنسان في البقاء (بمنطق أبطالنا هنا) تقوم على الحاجة إلى القتل وبحاجة إلى \" التعامل مع جسم الإنسان الآخر وكأنه طعام ضروري لبقائك حيا \" وسواء كان القتل ماديا أو معنويا لا يهم, فالمهم هو حاجة الفرد لإشباع رغبته تلك بما يضمن استمراريته ورواية تجعلك تتساءل في كل صفحة عن ماهية الشر؟ وهل هو الطبيعي فينا والخير أمر طارئ؟ هل القتل والشر والعنف متجذر بهذه الصورة في شخصياتنا وطبائعنا البشرية ورغباتنا.
