يقدم الدكتور إبراهيم عبده في هذا الكتاب صفوة مختارة من إعلام الصحافة العربية، منهم : رفاعة رافع الطهطاوي، أحمد فارس الشدياق، بطرس البستاني، محمد عبده، عبدالله النديم، مصطفى كامل، وغيرهم... وتعتبر صحيفة الوقائع المصرية، أول صحيفة عربية عرفها العالم العربي، حيث صدرت بالقاهرة سنة 1828 ومنذ ذلك الوقت قام على إنشاء الصحافة العربية، وقدم لها بالجهد والعلم والمال مئات من الصحافيين الأدباء العارفين أقدار المهنة، والمؤمنين برسالتها في الحياة، وقد اصطنعهم القدر لخدمة هذه المؤسسة العلمية الرفيعة، حتى بلغت في إيمانا مكانها من النضج والإستواء.
