تتناول الرواية بعنوان (الحالة الحرجة للمدعو \"ك\") وقسم الكاتب روايته إلى 39 أسبوع، تدور الرواية حول شاب في مقتبل العمر يعمل في شركة بيتروكيماويات ضخمة ومعروفة شأنها شأن العديد من شركات الخليج التي نعرفها أو نسمع عنها، يكتشف بطل الرواية أنه مصاب بسرطان الدم \"اللوكيميا\" بعد أن أمضى عمره في علاقة حب-كراهية مع الوهن الجسدي والنفسي الذي عانى منه منذ طفولته. يتسارع إيقاع الرواية مع انخفاض معدل ضربات القلب لدى بطل الرواية، وهنا علي أن أقول أن التسارع ليس بالأحداث على قدر ما هو بتصاعد الحدة النفسية لدى ك. فأماكن الرواية تحصر بالمستشفى والمنزل تظهر براعة الكاتب في جذبك لتقرأ 200 صفحة أو أكثر من المنولوج لشخص واحد فقط هو بطل الرواية.
