إن هذا الكتاب ببساطة هو قراءة من ناحية سياسية لما قام به أبنائنا وأجدادنا وأجدادهم من أعمال، حاولت أن ابتعد فيها عن الغرب وحاولت أن أبحث فيها عن النوايا مثبتا بذلك أن العمل السياسي ليس بشيء جديد، وإنما هو قديم قدم التاريخ نفسه، وأن العرب والمسلمون الأوائل لم تكن أعمالهم بلا دراسة أو فطنة، إنما كانوا أهل حكمة وتدبير، فكانوا رجا سياسة أيضا، حاولت الحديث حول الأحكام التي وضعها الإسلام للعمل السياسي، وحاولت المضي في ذكر مبسط لأحداث وقعت قام بها أفراد ومجموعات من المسلمين، حسبت على الإسلام وكان من الأجدر أن تحسب على الأشخاص، يجب أن نتذكر دوما بأن هذا العمل ليس كتابا تاريخيا بقدر ما هو قراءة سريعة للحالة السياسية في العالمين العربي والإسلامي.
