إن كتاب نزهة الحادي بأخبار ملوك القرن الحادي من أهم وأوفى المصادر والمراجع التاريخية الوثيقة عن الدولة السعدية وسير وأخبار ملوكها الذين حكموا المغرب من سنة 915 إلى 1069 هجري-1511-1670 ميلادي، وهي أسرة من الإشراف الحسينيين تنتسب إلى الإمام القاسم بن محمد الملقب بالنفس الذكية، أسست أسرة حاكمة حكمت المغرب الأقصى، نزح أجدادهم من الحجاز إلى منطقة وادي نهر درعة جنوبي المغرب مع مطلع القرن الثامن الهجري والرابع عشر الميلادي، وبدءوا في نشر دعوتهم عن طريق الطرق الصوفية وحاربوا حكام المغرب الوطاسيين ثم قادوا حركة المقاومة ضد الوجود البرتغالي في البلاد.
