لابد من التأكيد على أهمية هذه المخطوطة باعتبارها أقدم مخطوطة في تاريخ الإمارات، مؤلفها يوسف بن محمد الشريف انتقل إلى رحمة الله تعالى عام 1917، وناسخها الشيخ محمد بن سعيد بن غباش، انتقل إلى رحمة الله تعالى عام 1969 لذلك، فإن أهميتها التاريخية جوهرية للباحثين في تاريخ الإمارات العربية المتحدة، لأن ما جاء فيها فهو بقلم ابن البيئة الاجتماعية والتاريخية، وقد ذكر أحداثها بأسلوب بسيط بعيد عن الإنشاء، وخال من المبالغات، وغير متحيز لهذا أو لذاك، فهي بذلك تدل على معرفة بالبلد وأهله والحوادث الرئيسية التي حدثت فيه.
