يقول المؤلف : لقد تناولت المقامات من جانبها الديني والتراثي، وحاولت إبراز العمارة الإسلامية والآيات القرآنية التي توجد على السيراميك والخزف، كما حاولت إيراد تواريخ عمارتها ومراحل التجديد فيها، كما أن سبب بقائها عناية الناس بترميمها وإعادة تجديد بنائها ولولا ذلك لزالت من الوجود، وبهذا فهي استمدت ديمومتها من تعلق الناس بها. والذي دفعني إلى الكتابة وجود حاجة ملحة لتأليف ما يشبه الموسوعة حيث سبق هذا الكتاب، تاريخ المساجد والثاني تاريخ المزارات وجاء هذا الكتاب في تاريخ المقامات فتكون بذلك دليلا لمدينة الحلة السياحي والديني.
