تروي أحلام بشارات في روايتها \"مصنع الذكريات\" حكاية جابر الذي يحاول حماية ذكرياته من النسيان، فيخترع مصنعا وهميا يحتفظ فيه بذكرياته عمن يحبهم، يعتقد جابر أن الذكريات هي روحنا الأخرى التي تجعلنا نتعلق بالمكان والزمان، لذلك يعقد شراكة مع أصدقائه الثلاثة، رافيا ومنصور وعدلي، الذين يتبنون معه فكرة المصنع الخيالي، ومن خلال هذه الشراكة ستتدرج أحداث الرواية إلى أن يتمكن جابر من فتح الباب المغلق والانطلاق قدما إلى الحاضر بعد أن يدرك أن الإنسان، هذا الكائن المعقد، لا يستطيع السير ذكرياته وألبومات صوره العتيقة التي تحمل قصاصات أيامه فتصبح وقوده لعيش الحاضر والمستقبل.
