تدور أحداث رواية \"جريمة فى وادى النيل\" للكاتبة العالمية \"أجاثا كريستي\" حول \"لينيت ريدجواى\" الشابة الجميلة الثرية التي تقوم بخيانة أعز صديقاتها \"جاكلين بالفور\" مع خطيبها \"سيمون دويلى\"، ثم ما تلبث أن تتزوج به، يقرر العروسان قضاء شهر العسل، ولكن \"جاكلين بالفور\" تتبعهما أينما ذهبا، إلى أن يصلا إلى مصر، ويقيمان في فندق يوجد به المحقق \"هيركيول بوارو\"، المحقق والعروسان وجاكلين بالفور يستقلون مع عدد من الركاب قاطرة بخارية للقيام بجولة في نهر النيل، وفجأة توجد \"لينيت\" مقتولة، كل أصابع الاتهام تتجه نحو جاكلين التي تكن لها حقدا كبيرا، لكن المحقق \"بوارو\" غير مقتنع بذلك، ويقرر التحقيق في القضية لاكتشاف خفاياها.
