يحوي هذا الكتاب خمسة دواوين الشعراء مغمورين وهم أبو العميثل الأعرابي، ومخلد بن بكار الموصلي، والجمل المصري، وأبو الغير المدني، وأبو عمران الزاهد. وقد اجتهد المؤلف في جمع كل ما نسب إلى هؤلاء الشعراء سواء أكان مقطوعا به أم لا، وقدم بين يدي كل ديوان دراسة حوت تحليلا للشعر وسماته الفنية، حيث يتناول الكتاب مجموعة من الشعراء البصريين الذين عاشوا في فترات زمنية مختلفة، لكن لم يحصلوا على اهتمام كاف من قبل الباحثين والنقاد. يقدم الدكتور عدنان عبيد العلي دراسة تحليلية لشعرهم، ويضعهم في سياقهم التاريخي والثقافي.
