Overview
الدوادار هو حامل الدواة الخاصة بالسلطان أو الأمير، وقد ظهرت هذه الوظيفة في العصر العباسي، ويقال في عصر السلاجقة ألا أنها عرفت في مصر منذ العصر الفاطمي وكان صاحبها يعد من خواص الخليفة وانتقلت الوظيفة إلى الأيوبيين ومن بعدهم المماليك وزادت أهميتها بصفة خاصة في العصر المملوكي حيث كان الدوادار أحد معاوني كاتب السر أو رئيس ديوان الإنشاء وكان يكلف بمهام جسام مثل تبليغ الرسائل وعامة الأمور عن السلطان، وتقديم القصص إلى بريد السلطان، وأخذ توقيعه على المكاتبات المختلفة وغيرها من المهام. وقد اكتسبت هذه الوظيفة أهمية خاصة في عصر السلطان الظاهر بيبرس البندقداري.
