يكشف جاك رانسيير، وهو أحد أهم الفلاسفة المعاصرين، ليس في فرنسا وحسب، وإنما في أوروبا أيضا، عن قوانين وأحكام عامة تتصل بتاريخ ظهور النص الأدبي، دون أن ينتبه إليها دارسوه أو نقاده وربما أيضا كتابه. وقد بات من الضروري الذهاب إليها بعينها حين نقوم باستعراض النص الأدبي، لا أن نظل ندور حولها في الحراك التفافي على النص الأدبي ومن أجل أن نطوعه لسياسة كاتبه. إذ «ليست سياسة الأدب سياسة الكاتب بحال من الأحوال، وهي لا تتعلق بالتزامه الشخصي في صراعات عصره السياسية والاجتماعية»، على حد تعبير جاك رانسيير نفسه.
