يدور هذا الكتاب حول سيرة وكفاح \"شكري العسلي\" أحد رجالات العرب الذين عملوا في مطلع القرن العشرين من أجل إستقلال عرب المشرق عن تركيا ومقاومة الأطماع الصهيونية في فلسطين ومع إيمانه لفترة طويلة من عمره القصير نسبيا بالرابطة العثمانية فقد كان أحد الشباب الذين مهدوا فكريا وعمليا لإنضاج فكرة القومية العربية في بلاد الشام وخاصة في مواجهة تشديد سياسة \"التتريك\" بعد عام 1908 وقد دفع حياته في النهاية ثمنا لموقفه العربي حيث انتهى به المطاف مع ثلة من قادة الحركة العربية فوق أعواد المشانق في دمشق على يدي (جمال باشا السفاح) يوم السادس من أيار / مايو 1916.
