تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى التعريف بجهد العسقلاني البلاغي من خلال شرحه المعروف بـ (فتح الباري شرح صحيح البخاري)، ولتحقيق ذلك جعلت الدراسة في ثلاثة فصول وتمهيد وخاتمه واشتمل التمهيد على التعريف بحياة العسقلاني ومنزلته البلاغية، وخصصت الفصل الأول للحديث فكان طروحات علم المعاني، فتوقفت لدى الحذف والذكر، والإيجاز والإطناب والفصل والوصل، والقصر والالتفات وجاء الفصل الثاني للحديث حول طروحات علم البيان، وجاءت في خمسة مظاهر هي : التشبيه، والمجاز المرسل والاستعارة والكناية والتعريض أما الفصل الثالث فكانت لعلم البديع وتناولت فيه : المقابلة، والجناس، والسجع.
