تناول الكتاب موضوع العذرية في اطار مباحث أنثربولوجيا الجسد، والتعامل مع مفهوم العذرية في ضوء التحديات الثقافية العالمية تناول الفصل الاول عرضا مفصلا للاطار النظري للدراسة، وشمل مشكلة الدراسة وتساؤلاتها والاسهامات النظرية في دراسة الثقافة العذرية، واتجاهات دراسة الجسد، وكذلك تناول الجسد من جانب الاتجاه الفينومينولوجي واتجاه دراسة القيم. وتناول الفصل الثاني مناقشة الجدل المطروح حول العذرية في الدراسات السابقة لتعميق الرؤية للعذرية من ناحية، وللختان من ناحية اخرى في محاولة تقديم رؤية نقدية لهذه الدراسات.
