تتناول الرواية قصة الأيام الأخيرة لفتاة لبنانية مريضة تعيش قصة حب غريبة مع شاب سعودي في بيروت وتتطرق للعديد من الفلسفات الوجودية المتعلقة بالموت والحياة والحب حيث تدور الأحداث حول معتز شاب في الثلاثين من عمره لا يلفت الانتباه ولا يثير التساؤلات ويعاني حالة عميقة في داخله لا يدري ما هي خلل في العصب البصري أو تمرد في خلايا الذاكرة أو جنون في النظام الكروموزومي المهم أي شيء يمثل أمامه سيقبل به شرط ألا يظل على حالته نفسها أطول من الوقت اللازم ويصبح مملا ومات والداه بحادث سير وهو في الخامسة والعشرين من عمره وتركا كل ثروتهما له، تزوج وسرعان ما طلق زوجته بعد ثلاث سنوات من الارتباط خوفا من اعتيادها وما يستتبع هذه الحالة من ملل وفي يوم تعرف على صوفيا المسيحية اللبنانية عن طريق الانترنت فمثلت له حالة غريبة تعاكس الرتابة التي يعيشها فقرر زيارتها في شقتها في بيروت وعندما دخل أحس أنه دخل إلى ضريح.
