ضم الكتاب بين دفتيه دراسة أدبية تراثية للأغاني والأهازيج الشعبية المتداولة عند بحارة الإمارات العربية المتحدة وقد تحدث المؤلف عن الترويح النفسي للملاحين على ظهر السفن الشراعية قديما وما كانوا يتداولونه من أشعار شعبية ذات فنون متوارثة، حيث إن دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة تحفل بمثل هذه الفنون التقليدية وخاصة الفنون البحرية لاسيما وأنها تقع على سواحل بحرية متعددة، لذا لا بد وأن تتعدد فنون الترويح عن النفس في الجزر والمدن الساحلية وعلي ظهر السفن المبحرة بعيدا إلى أعالي البحار خصوصا وأن الكدح الذي كان يكابده الإنسان في الماضي من أجل الحصول على لقمة العيش الشريفة كان لا بد له أن يروح عن نفسه لإبعاد الملل وتزويده بالطاقة مجددا.
