يناقش هذا البحث الآراء المختلفة للعلماء حول تحديد بداية تاريخ إصدار المسكوكات النبطية المغفلة (1)، وأول من قام بضربها، وفترة استمرار إصدارها. وقد أمكن الوصول إلى النتيجة من دليل تم استخلاصه من حفريات موقع تل بئر السبع؛ يؤيد رأي روبنسون الذي كان قد اقترح أن تنسب المسكوكات المغفلة إلى الحارث الثاني (120 / 110 - 96 ق.م).
