Overview
تحتل قلعة بني حماد مكانة إستراتيجية كبيرة وموقع حصين، وتعتبر نقطة وصل بين الشرق والغرب وهي قلعة كبيرة ذات منفعة وحصانة. تم تأسيس مدينة القلعة على يد حماد بن بلكين واستطاع فرض نفسه كرجل جدير بتأسيس أول دولة مستقلة في المغرب الأوسط وعرف بأنه ذو شخصية قوية يتميز بالذكاء والفطنة والحنكة السياسية والعسكرية. قام حماد بعد وفاة باديس بالزحف على أشير وثم زحف على باغاية لكنه انهزم أمام عساكر المعز فطلب حماد الصلح من المعز فعقد له المعز الصلح وانتهت الحرب بينهما وانقسمت صنهاجة إلى دولتين دولة آل زيري ودولة بني حماد ملوك القلعة وهكذا كان قيام الدولة الحمادية بعد اعتراف الزيريين بها.
