يقدم لنا آرني نايس أساسيات الإيكولوجيا العميقة موضحا مبادئها في مختلف المجالات بحيث يتم التعبير عنها، في نظرية المعرفة: يإمكانية التحدي في دراسة العلاقة بين التمثل والتقييم وتجربة العواطف، وفي الأخلاق: بربط الأحكام القيمية بنظام معياري، وفي الميتافيزيقا: بتحديد الواقع كنظام من العلاقات والعمليات المترابطة، أما السياسة: يكمن الهدف في توضيح الخطوط العريضة للحركة الاجتماعية التي من المحتمل أن توحد أكبر عدد من النوايا الحسنة.
