Overview
In 2019, Algeria underwent a political transformation driven by popular demands for constitutional reform, leading to amendments in 2020 and the adoption of Organic Law 23-06. Key changes included expanded parliamentary initiative, electronic voting, and emergency ratification procedures. Oversight mechanisms were strengthened to enhance government accountability. However, the legislative progress between 2021 and 2024 did not meet expectations, largely due to the failure to update parliamentary regulations in accordance with new constitutional provisions.
