Overview
El presente artículo explora la relación entre distintos tipos de uso político de las redes sociales y la participación política offline, así como el efecto político-movilizador diferenciado de las plataformas Facebook, Twitter y WhatsApp en un contexto de elecciones presidenciales en Ecuador. Los resultados confirman que: (i) las redes sociales estimulan la movilización de las personas hacia conductas políticas offline; (ii) este efecto movilizador se limita a las plataformas Facebook y WhatsApp y (iii) los usos políticos de tipo expresivo y de contacto con los grupos políticos influyen con mayor fuerza sobre la participación política offline. Se discuten las implicacionesde estos hallazgos en el marco del debate sobre el efecto movilizador de las redes sociales en el grado de activismo político offline.
