Psychedelics, OCD and related disorders: Methodological issues and potential strategies for future studies

Overview
In this study we review the methodological issues complicating current research on psychedelics for OCRDs, including published studies and preregistered trial methodologies. Methods We conducted a scoping review on the use of psychedelics in patients with OCRDs, searching in Pubmed and Psycinfo for published studies and in ClinicalTrials.gov for unpublished ongoing trials. The key concerns highlighted by the quality assessment relates to the risk of expectation and selection bias (e.g. the current popularity of psychedelics, the recruitment of non-drug-naive subjects), the adjunctive use of psychotherapy and the lack of blinding (only four ongoing trials use blinded raters and, where designed, double-blinding was kept for a short time, e.g. 1 week).
