report that in patients with traumatic acute subdural hematoma, surgical evacuation by means of routine depressive craniectomy (in which the bone flap is not replaced) provides no outcome benefit over craniotomy (in which the bone flap is replaced). We are interested in clarification of some issues to assist in understanding the implications and generalizability of these results.
