Overview
In this study of nationwide Medicaid data, there was no significant increase in the risk of any congenital cardiac defect associated with the use of selective serotonin-reuptake inhibitors or other antidepressants, after adjustment for depression and other confounders.
Clinical depression occurs in 10 to 15% of pregnant women.
