Overview
Postoperatively the regiment includes basal infusion free patient controlled analgesia (PCA) with tramadol, in addition to scheduled paracetamol every 8 h and rescue analgesics (diclofenac 75 mg and meperidine 50 mg) when required. In one patient that underwent anterior approach hip arthroplasty, postoperative pelvic computerised tomography (CT) was scheduled in order to determine acetabulum damage and visualize the placement of screws. [...]additional written informed consent was obtained for CT with contrast to be performed and for the images to be used for scientific purposes. Lumbar ESPB can be used successfully for postoperative analgesia in hip surgery, with similar results when compared to other regional anesthesia techniques such as psoas compartment block and quadratus lumborum block.
