Overview
From Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton to Amy Post and Martha Matilda Harper, Rochester has a long history' of nurturing strong, independent women, it was these agitators, these reactionaries, who served as motivation for future generations of like-minded women to start one of the nation's earliest women's networking groups. Founded in 1978 by a group led by Jane Plitt and Mona Miller, RWN was born of the frustration women often felt because men had their own networking opportunities, while women were relegated to stewing alone over the gender wage gap, sexual harassment and the absence of women on corporate boards. RWN offers members a number of services including monthly fine networking events and at least one programming event per month with titles such as \"Boys in the Breakroom,\" \"Shifting the Point of View': What's Hidden in Your Story\" and \"The Power of Allies: The Role of Men in Women's Quest for Parity,\" a program jointly held in July with women's groups from Xerox Corp., Harris Corp. and Ortho Clinical Diagnostics.
