Overview
Too often we hear discussions and analyses that focus on the economic development, military threat, environmental pollution, human rights, and political reforms. The attempt at changing the traditional pension system has not been successful either, as the reform's aim was 'not to create an optimal social security system but was to help restructure of the SOE sector instead.' (p.99) Like many other scholars, England agrees that China's current pension system is unsustainable without further reform.
